The Club Captain's Report.
Tony Formosa.

Happy New Year, I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a relaxing time over the holidays. The Club is planning lots of extra activities for this coming year and we hope you and your family can join in the year of the Australian Mini 40th Anniversary.

Our Christmas party at Wests Leagues Club was well attended with 150 members and family having such great fun with their sons and daughters in the Mini Mini drag racing on the dance floor, especially Rob Watson who seemed to have more fun then the kids. It was also great to see Jack Read and son Matt (bloody big kid) join in the activities. Many thanks to Dave McGregor who did a fantastic job as usual as our MC on the day, maybe next year we will see him on Sale of the Century. Most importantly I must thank our ever jolly Dave Perkins for his role as Santa and keeping the kids, big and little, happy with all those lollie bags and presents. Thanks also all the members who assisted with the raffles, balloon guessing competition and setting up etc. Many thanks to all the sponsors and members who donated raffle prizes, its great to have so many good people support that special day such as Ray & Judy Retchless, Moy Family, David McGregor, Crash at Mini Pro, Wright Family, Mountain Motor Books, M.R. Automotive and Wests Leagues Club.

The Club will be celebrating its second anniversary on Tuesday March 13 at Wests Leagues Club. This has to be confirmed, but we are 99% sure. I hope all members can come along on the night as we have a special guest speaker. You may remember that last year at Brisbane BMW for our first birthday we had over 100 attend, so lets better that and come along and meet your fellow members and just talk Minis.

With the year 2000 most likely being my last year as your Club Captain, I would like to thank everyone on the past and present committees and all the members for all the support and assistance they have given me over the past two years. I will however still stand as a committee member.

When I was first asked to help form the Club, I had wished that it would be filled with lots of activities for all members to enjoy and bring all Mini owners and their families together. Well I believe we have accomplished that and generated so much interest in the last two years that all the other Mini clubs are looking at us wondering what we are planning next so that they can attend the activities and celebrations. With the Australian Mini 40 at Lakeside International Raceway being our highlight for this year, I wish everyone on the organising committee every success for the event and hope the weather improves on last year’s Queen’s Birthday weekend.

I wish the new committee every success in year 2001 and look forward to seeing you at the next club outing.

Tony.
